Food insecurity is a common cause of inadequate nutrition in the U.S. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics asserts that registered dietitians have important roles to play through practice, nutrition education, and research, as well as “advocacy efforts at the local, state, regional, and national levels.”
“Food Insecurity in the U.S.” is a three-hour on-demand online course designed specifically for dietitians on the size and scope of the problem and how we can use our voices to create a hunger-free society. This course covers:
- Definitions of food insecurity and hunger
- Populations at greatest risk of food insecurity
- Root causes of food insecurity
- Effective solutions to food insecurity
- Tools for beginning advocates
This course has been approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for 3 CPEUs upon submission of certificate of completion. The cost of the course is $35.00.
This course was made possible through the generous support of Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation.
