9th class Leland Fellow, Rachel Gilbert, authored this blog post on how the Compact2025 Forum progressed in their discussion on how to effectively accelerate Malawi from a food relief to a food secure and resilient nation. Compact2025 focused on discussing strategies with strong evidence combined with both recommendations from the previous year’s Forum and new findings in order to achieve sustainable food security in Malawi.

Rachel Gilbert graduated from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 2017 with a M.Sc. in Agriculture, Food and Environment. Rachel also completed the Water: Systems, Science and Society Certificate while at Friedman. Prior to beginning the Masters program, Rachel worked at the Small Planet Institute, conducting research for the book World Hunger: 10 Myths. Following her undergraduate studies, Rachel also spent time in Cameroon working with a small coffee company and social enterprise as an Environmental Educator.
