The Global Food Security Act (GFSA) cleared the final step to reaching the president’s desk on July 6 when it passed the House of Representatives 369-53. The bill (S.1252) will confirm US leadership for food and nutrition security throughout the world begun under Feed the Future and ensure that programs moving forward are strategic and accountable. It will also authorize greater flexibility within emergency humanitarian programs, which will ultimately save lives. CHC has been a strong supporter and advocate for the GFSA and especially thanks the members who championed and shepherded it through the process so tirelessly, especially Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Betty McCollum (D-MN) and Ed Royce (R-CA) and Senators Bob Casey (D-PA), Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Bob Corker (R-TN) as well as the leadership of both chambers. https://www.interaction.org/document/gfsa-thank-you-letter
