We are excited to announce the 24th Class of Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellows! This year’s selection process was as competitive as ever; the 16 Fellows of the new class were selected from more than 372 applications. The Fellows hail from all across the country, from the banks of the Mississippi and the Ohio River to the shores of the Chesapeake and San Francisco Bay, joining the Congressional Hunger Center’s fellowship community of over 500 anti-hunger leaders. Once assembled this fall their cohort will partner with organizations around the country and in Washington, D.C. to find solutions to hunger and poverty at the community level as well as the Federal policy level. The need for their energy, passion, and creativity is as great as ever. Despite the U.S. economy’s continuing recovery, the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) estimates that nearly 1 in 6 Americans lacked the money to buy food at times in 2015. We look forward to the Fellows’ arrival in Washington for field training in August, and to the great work they’ll be doing to end hunger across the country.
