Radio interview with Damiana Astudillo, 3rd class Leland Fellow, on the impact of the new commercial cultivation of quinoa on the farmers and on the crop. Damiana worked with Bioversity International and PROINPA in the Southern Altiplano community in Bolivia. Amanda Rives Argeñal, 3rd class Fellow, developed a background paper for Christian Children’s Fund Honduras. Her paper, Food Security Foundations, addresses the history of food security in international development. (link to document by Amanda).
Nathaniel Heller, 3rd class, helped build and develop content for a website for the UN Food and Agricultural Organization on Bridging the Rural Digital Divide as well as an e-Agriculture website. e-Agriculture.org is a global initiative to enhance sustainable agricultural development and food security by improving the use of information, communication, and associated technologies in the sector. The overall aim is to enable members to exchange opinions, experiences, good practices and resources related to e-agriculture, and to ensure that the knowledge created is effectively shared and used worldwide.
Michael Manske, 3rd class Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellow, developed a position paper for Counterpart International on non-emergency food aid.
Sylvie Doutriaux, from the 3rd class, managed and helped to develop an assessment-tools resource base as well as a herder survey report in Mongolia while working for Mercy Corps.
