The 4th cycle of the Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program is currently in progress. For those interested in applying to the 5th class of Mickey Leland Fellows (2009-2011), please check our website on August 29, 2008 for a listing of the fellowship placements for the 5th class. Candidate applications will be due December 1, 2008.
Qualified applicants should have already completed one year work or volunteer experience overseas, a higher degree (such as a master’s, etc) or equivalent work experience, be a US citizen or permanent resident, have demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities, have a strong commitment to alleviating hunger and poverty, flexibility, and an ability to perform well in a cross-cultural environment. Individual placements may have additional requirements determined by the host organization, such as a language skill or regional experience. Those additional requirements will be included in the fellowship placement postings.
Application materials include a cover letter, a resume, an essay (to be posted at a later date), as well as two recommendations (one professional and one academic). Applicants may apply to two positions at most. Please see timeline.
