CHC/UPS Hunger Forum

On March 31, 2004 The UPS Foundation and the Congressional Hunger Center hosted a National Hunger Forum at The Keck Center of the National Academies in Washington, D.C. Participants were greeted by The Honorable Jo Ann Emerson, Co-Chair, CHC Board of Directors; The Honorable James P. McGovern, Co-Chair, CHC Board of Directors; and Evern Cooper, President, The UPS Foundation. Expert presenters covered topics including: Hunger in America - A Solvable Problem; Hunger, Obesity and Health; USDA and Administrative Initiatives Addressing Hunger; Ending Hunger in America - the Role of State and Local Government, Community Food Security Partners, and Regional Coalition Models; and, Perspectives on Ending Hunger - the Advocacy and Faith-Based/Religious Communities.

Content area experts and contributors had about six weeks to research, conceptualize and write eleven white papers for review and discussion at the Forum. The papers, written by established anti hunger advocates, chronicle approaches to ending hunger in America, with an eye on both past and future efforts. Each of these papers is available for download below.
